Welcome to GoCar Iceland. These Terms and Conditions outline the rules and regulations for using our website and renting vehicles from our company. By booking a car or using our services, you agree to these terms in full. Please read them carefully before making a reservation.

1. General Terms

GoCar Iceland provides rental vehicles to customers who meet the legal driving requirements in Iceland. All drivers must hold a valid driver’s license and comply with local laws and regulations. The renter is responsible for ensuring all information provided during booking is accurate and up to date.

2. Booking and Payment

Bookings can be made online through our website or directly at our offices.
We accept debit cards, credit cards, and in some cases, cash payments at pickup.
For Car Hire Iceland No Deposit bookings, no large security hold will be placed on your card. However, full payment must be completed before vehicle collection.
All prices shown include taxes, insurance, and basic protection coverage unless otherwise stated.

3. Driver Requirements

The minimum age to rent a car is 20 years (for small cars) and 23 years (for SUVs and 4×4 vehicles).
The driver must hold a valid driver’s license for at least one year.
Only the drivers listed on the rental agreement are authorized to operate the vehicle.

4. Vehicle Collection and Return

The vehicle must be collected and returned at the agreed time and location.
Late returns may incur additional charges.
The renter must return the car in the same condition as received, with the same fuel level and no interior or exterior damage.
All traffic fines, parking violations, or toll fees incurred during the rental period are the renter’s responsibility.

5. Insurance and Liability

All GoCar Iceland rentals include standard insurance coverage. Optional upgrades (such as full protection or gravel protection) are available for added peace of mind. The renter is responsible for any damages not covered by insurance, including those caused by negligence, off-road driving, or violation of Icelandic traffic laws.

6. Fuel Policy

Cars are provided with a full tank of fuel and must be returned full. If the car is returned with less fuel, a refueling fee will apply. Diesel and petrol types are clearly marked – using the wrong fuel type will result in a repair charge.

7. Use of Vehicle

Vehicles must not be driven off marked roads or F-roads unless explicitly permitted with a 4×4 vehicle.
Smoking and transporting animals in vehicles are prohibited unless agreed beforehand.
The car may not be used for racing, towing, or illegal activities.
The renter must always obey Icelandic traffic laws and drive responsibly according to weather and road conditions.

8. Accidents and Breakdowns

In case of an accident, theft, or vehicle damage, the renter must immediately contact GoCar Iceland and local authorities. A police report is required for insurance claims. Roadside assistance is available 24/7 across Iceland.

9. Cancellations and Refunds

Bookings may be canceled or modified before the rental period begins.
Free cancellation is available if made within the specified time frame mentioned during booking.
Refunds for unused rental days are not provided after the vehicle has been collected.

10. Privacy and Data Protection

We respect your privacy. Any personal information collected during the booking process is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Your data is never sold or shared without consent, except when required by law or for completing your booking.

11. Limitation of Liability

GoCar Iceland is not responsible for indirect or consequential damages, including travel delays, missed flights, or accommodation issues caused by vehicle breakdowns, weather conditions, or other unforeseen events. However, we will always assist you in finding a quick and fair resolution.

12. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by Icelandic law. Any disputes arising from the use of our services will be subject to the jurisdiction of the District Court of Reykjavik, Iceland.
